Moink Balls

Holiday parties are a great time to break out new appetizers, and this is one that you have to try.

It’s called Moink Balls…..I know you’re probably asking yourself “What is a moink ball?”

Moink balls get their name from Moo (beef) and Oink (Pork). How can this combination be bad, right?

Moink Balls

To make moink balls you’ll need 1 package of frozen meatballs and 1lb of sliced bacon.  If you want to start with fresh ground beef and hand roll the meatballs, that’s fine too.

Let the frozen meatballs thaw in the fridge for a few hours until they’re soft.  Cut the bacon strips in half and wrap around each meatball.  Insert a tooth pic completely through the meatball making sure to go through the bacon as well.

Season each side with your favorite bbq rub, and fire up the smoker to 250 degrees and add a few chunks of wood to produce a light smoke.  The goal here is to cook the meatballs over indirect heat until the bacon is brown.  It will take about 1 ½ hours at 250 but keep an eye on things.

Once the bacon is done the moink balls are ready to serve but I like to put a final glaze on them.  Take a bottle of your favorite bbq sauce and thin it with a couple tablespoons of pineapple juice.  Brush the moink balls with the glaze and let it sit for 15 minutes on the smoker.  Then they’re ready for your guest, but be warned the will disappear very fast, so you may want to make several batches.
